TIJUANA.- Elected mayor, Dr. Jorge Astiazaran Orci, confirmed that the VAT Standardization of 16% is practically a fact, and that unfortunately the border is being punished with the 5% tax increase. He also added that it will affect the finances of the XXI city hall, given that it will probably represent an additional 30 to 40 million pesos (around 3 million dollars) a year.

When it comes to city hall spending, he manifested that they will need to make adjustments given that it represents a 5% increase in all of the estimated input in the spending budget of the XXI Tijuana city hall. Therefor we will have an austere and efficient government.

About whether or not City hall will increase some kind of tax, elected Mayor, Dr. Jorge Astiazaran Orci, reiterated, first they will analyze the current financial situation, how resources will be next year, as well they will have to make an analysis of each an every one of the government dependencies which is what they have been doing with the transition work, and his council will take the necessary decisions when the time comes.

This is what was informed last week during his assistance to the inauguration of the National Conference of Municipal Public Safety (CNSPM) of the Northwest Region, were several guests were present, like the President of the CNSPM and mayor of Toluca, State of Mexico, Martha Hilda Gonzalez Calderon, the secretary of Public Safety in Tijuana, Jesus Alberto Capella Ibarra, the Regional Coordinator of the Executive Secretariat of Public Safety, Elias Prado Laguardia, and the commander of the second military zone, Gabriel Garcia Rincon.

Later on, the Elected Mayor was present at the award ceremony to elements of the Department of Municipal Public Safety, which were presented by a Civil Association of "Tijuana Agradecida" (grateful Tijuana), led by their president Xavier Peniche.
