A security push in Playas de Rosarito was detailed by Mayor Rocío Adame during a high-level Security Roundtable this week. The meeting brought together a unified front of local, state, and federal agencies, including the National Guard, the State Attorney General’s Office, the Specialized Narcotics Unit, the State Investigation Agency, the Secretariat of Citizen Security, and the C5 Rosarito command center, to solidify strategies for public safety.

Data from the week of October 15-22 reveals a decline in overall criminal incidents, dropping from 20 to 17. This progress is attributed to a series of precise, multi-agency interventions including:

The National Guard established inspection checkpoints and increased patrols in high-crime neighborhoods, enhancing the visible security presence for residents.

The Specialized Narcotics Unit arrested one individual with five packages of methamphetamine. A subsequent raid on Misión Catalina Street led to two more arrests and the seizure of ten additional packages of methamphetamine and marijuana.

The State Investigation Agency reported the successful recovery of a stolen vehicle, an arrest for auto theft, and responses to two cases of natural death.

Further analysis from the C5 Rosarito command center indicates reductions in specific crime categories, including non-violent vehicle theft and business robberies involving violence. Incidents of injuries from firearms also decreased.

In addition, the Secretariat of Citizen Security is maintaining a robust schedule of preventive patrols, ensuring a police presence at school crossings, major roads like Boulevard 2000, banks, ATMs, municipal cemeteries, and 13 pedestrian bridges.

In a specialized operation between the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the Animal Control Department, led by Police Director Carlos Bernal Hinojosa and Deputy Operational Director José Manuel Ponce Valerde, authorities deployed:

  • 6 municipal police units with 12 officers
  • 3 FGE units with 7 investigative agents led by State Attorney Arturo Mandujano Quezada
  • 2 Animal Control units with 4 canine handlers led by Alfonzo Filiberto Fuentes

The operation on Benito Juárez Boulevard and Guadalupe Victoria Street resulted in the detention of 18 individuals for administrative violations and the seizure of four dogs of various breeds.

Preventive patrols were also carried out in coordination with the State Force’s Violet Squad, reinforcing police presence in high-priority neighborhoods and responding to reports from the C5 center.

“These results demonstrate that the coordination between agencies and the constant presence of authorities on the streets are key to maintaining security. We will continue working together to guarantee the well-being of Rosarito families,” Mayor Rocío Adame said.

With these initial results, the 10th City Hall of Rosarito reaffirms its commitment to a sustained, coordinated strategy aimed at both preventing crime and combatting it head-on, promising a continued focus on the safety of all residents.
