During the COVID-19 cases update, the Head of the Department of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, informed that Baja California adds up until this Saturday July 18th, 11 thousand positive cases, Ensenada being the county that reported new cases the most with 34, as compared to Mexicali and Tijuana, which each registered 27 new cases in 24 hours.

The Head of the Department of Health mentioned that “Ensenada has not peaked yet”, and that if non-essential activities are renewed, the situation at the harbour would get complicated, said the expert.

Meanwhile, Mexicali remains as the county with most infections by coronavirus in the region, with 6 thousand 319, followed by Tijuana with 3 thousand 461, Ensenada with one thousand 210, Tecate with 267, San Quintin with 259, San Felipe with 168 and Rosarito with 143.

At the same time, the deaths due to this virus are already 2 thousand 318, of which one thousand 102 are from Mexicali, 982 from Tijuana, 140 from Ensenada, 70 from Tecate, 13 from Rosarito, 10 from San Quintin and 1 from San Felipe.

With this panorama, Perez Rico reaffirmed the government's decision to stay under the red light stage, despite the fact that federal authorities authorized the switch to orange.

If the color changes to orange and non-essential activities are renewed "I guarantee that we will rise," said the Head of the Department of Health, as has happened in nine Mexican states and other cities in the United States, he added.

"I guarantee that we will go to red in one or two weeks, because we don't have the conditions to be in orange," Perez Rico reaffirmed.
