The ferry that will soon connect Ensenada with San Diego has arrived in Mexican waters, marking a milestone for cross-border mobility and regional maritime transportation. The vessel sailed from Seattle to the Port of Ensenada, where it is now docked and undergoing inspections to finalize preparations for commercial service.
With capacity for 330 passengers, the ferry will soon begin local operations out of Ensenada. Mexico’s Navy (SEMAR) awarded the project to Azteca Ferries, which is making a fully private investment to operate the new international route.
While the exact launch date has yet to be announced, state officials said the company will determine when crossings will begin. Ticket prices for a one-way trip are expected to range from $50 to $60 USD, including port fees.
Ensenada Mayor Claudia Agatón even revealed that two wedding dates aboard the ferry have already been booked for September 2026.

Azteca Ferries will offer both one-way and round-trip tickets for travelers looking to explore San Diego and Ensenada. The company notes that passengers are responsible for meeting all immigration requirements and recommends confirming entry regulations before traveling, as it will not assume responsibility for customs or immigration issues.
Tickets can be modified to change the date, time, or passenger name, though adjustments depend on availability and may involve additional fees. In cases of overbooking, the company will issue a full refund.
