For the second year in a row, the port of Ensenada has welcomed more than one million cruise passengers—an achievement state officials hail as proof of the region’s growing strength as a premier maritime destination.
Steadily Growing Tourism
Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced that the port has registered 1,009,128 passengers from 270 ship arrivals in 2025, a figure that already surpasses last year’s total. The ongoing influx, which includes major vessels such as Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas, underscores the confidence international cruise lines have in the Baja California port.
The steady stream of cruise ships continues to be a major economic driver, bringing a significant boost to local businesses, restaurants, and service providers across the region. The governor noted that this sustained growth reinforces Ensenada’s place as a cornerstone of Mexican Pacific tourism.
“Baja California continues to establish itself as a quality tourist destination thanks to the effort, hospitality, and commitment of its people, who work daily to offer authentic experiences to our visitors,” Governor Marina del Pilar stated.

Cruise Ships: A Fundamental Driving Force for the Economy
The governor attributed this success to coordinated efforts between the state’s Department of Tourism, the Ensenada National Port System Administration (ASIPONA), and the Ensenada government.
She emphasized that cruise tourism remains a key engine for Baja California’s economy and development, marking the second time during her administration that the one-million-passenger milestone has been surpassed—further highlighting the state’s deep tourism vocation.
“We reaffirm our commitment to promoting our state’s leadership as a benchmark destination, offering memorable experiences to our visitors and fostering the hospitality that defines Baja California,” she added.
Echoing this sentiment, State Secretary of Tourism Zaida Luz López highlighted Ensenada’s strategic importance and the unique experiences it offers, which continue to strengthen its competitiveness on the international stage.
