For four days, Baja California became the center of national and international attention as Tianguis Turístico 2025 took over the Rosarito Convention Center, earning recognition as San Diego Red’s Event of the Year.
Held from April 28 to May 1, the gathering brought together representatives from all 32 Mexican states to showcase their destinations, culture, cuisine, and traditions. The 2025 edition stood out not only for its scale, but for its strong international focus, particularly its ties to the U.S. tourism market.

A New Model for Tianguis Turístico
The official opening ceremony took place at Hotel Rosarito Beach, led by Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, State Tourism Minister Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, and Federal Tourism Minister Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, along with local leaders and tourism industry representatives from across the country.

For the first time, the event expanded beyond its main venue, bringing cultural and culinary programming into public spaces throughout the region. This approach helped position the Tianguis not only as an industry platform, but also as a public celebration.

Culture, Business, and Global Reach
Throughout the four-day event, Tianguis Turístico 2025 delivered a full agenda of business meetings, cultural showcases, and destination promotion, reinforcing its role as Mexico’s leading tourism forum.

Key announcements included new intergovernmental tourism agreements, the launch of a new Volaris air route, and several high-profile recognitions, including Diamond certification for the El Cielo tourism development, the official presentation of the 35th Wine Harvest Festival, and awards presented by México Desconocido.
Experiencing Baja California
Beyond the convention halls, curated tourism routes allowed attendees to explore Baja California firsthand. These included culinary and wine-pairing experiences under the program “Baja California Pairs with Mexico,” the “Great Taco of Mexico” showcase at CECUT, and live performances by the Baja California Orchestra and Nortec Full Band along Avenida Revolución.

Awards and Historic Milestones
As the event drew to a close, Baja California received multiple recognitions, including Product Innovation of the Year for its leadership in romance tourism. The award was presented to Dovinto Vinícola Destino, located in the San Vicente Valley in Ensenada.
The Tianguis also achieved international recognition from Guinness World Records for recording the highest single-day attendance in its history, with 7,395 registered participants. The previous record stood at just over 3,000.
