TIJUANA.- President of the Citizen Committee for Public Safety, Genaro de la Torre Quintamar expressed that there has been a crime increase among the streets that are close to Tijuana's river canalization.
"There have been many house robberies, and the presence of homeless has increased, these are matter that we are working on with some of the residents of the affected areas as well as the business located downtown," mentioned De la Torre.
The eviction of migrants and homeless people from 'El Bordo' took place in March as part of a preventive measure regarding rain season in the city, ever since, police have surveilled the area to prevent them from returning.
President of CANACO, Gilberto Leyva Camacho, called upon the three levels of government to address the situation. He mentioned that the people who were evicted are now spread out in several areas of the city and unfortunately committing many crimes, damaging some businesses.
Previously the people living in 'El Bordo' were transferred to rehabilitation center, however, many of them are now roaming the streets once again.
