TIJUANA.- This week, we look south to the state of Oaxaca for our Beer of the Week and find a nice "artesian" brew. GSalinas Vinos (wines) invited us for a beer tasting (which they hold every Friday) from all over Mexico, having also the fortune of being able to buy one they had in store. Among the ones we tried was an Imperial Stout from Teufel, called "Evocación" (meaning "evocation" in Spanish), probably the best one we savored there.

With an accentuated sweet taste, hints of chocolate and, could be, some piloncillo (Mexican sugar cone), this Imperial Stout is pretty enjoyable to the tastebuds. It's always a bit of a challenge, but interesting, trying beers from southern Mexico, due to the different kinds of elements we find in them and that are different from more northern beers. If you're interested in trying this or any other beers from different parts of the country, or even Baja, you can visit GSalinas Wines and purchase them at reasonable and low prices.
