Municipal Police officers in Tijuana arrested yesterday two individuals who were involved in human trafficking, and who detained a "client" to extort money from his family members and demanded a ransom of $3,500 dollars.
The individuals arrested were identified as Casimiro Valdovinos Hernandez and Ivan Valdovinos Pelayo, 50 and 24 years old respectively.
Last night around 7:40 pm according to the police report, Jesus Rafael N. showed up to the Municipal Police headquarters in the district of San Antonio de los Buenos, to tell them what had happened to him. Jesus told the authorities that he arrived to Tijuana on Tuesday to try cross into the United States. On this same day he boarded a taxi where the driver was Ivan Valdovinos Pelayo, who was accompanied by another man, and preceded to the place where he would stay while they scheduled him to cross from Mexico into the U.S.
Little did Jesus Rafael N. know, he instead was taken to a dark alley where he was beaten and force to give the phone numbers of his relatives to demand $3,500 dollars from them in exchange for his freedom. He was then tied up and blindfolded and taken to a house from which he managed to escape from, and seek help with the aid of his cousin.
Officers were led to where Pelayo and Hernandez parked their taxi and arrested by the municipal police.
Neighbors commented that these subjects engage in human trafficking activities, and locked up their victims in a house in Villas del Campo and beat them up until they received the money to release them.
