The Baja California Ministry of Tourism (Secture) has managed to help secure a total of 45 film productions from October 2015 to September of this year in the state, which has brought in more than 19 million dollars into the local economy, and a generation of 847 direct jobs.

The head of Secture, Oscar Escobedo, reported that because of the diversity of landscapes, ecosystems and locations, Baja California has become a nationally and internationally recognized destination for the film industry, representing an opportunity to show the attractions offered to visitors.

"In conjunction with the Film Commission of Baja California, we have increased production since we have the infrastructure and qualified personnel to carry out this type of activity, which is the result of national and international promotion to boost tourism, and contribute to economic development and generation of jobs," he said.

As an example of this, the state official detailed that at the beginning of this month the recordings of the new Mexican series for Netflix called "El Desconocido" (The Unknown) began in Playas de Rosarito, in which 150 "Rosaritenses" will act as extras.

Likewise, he recalled that among the most outstanding films developed in the entity is the American television series Fear the Walking Dead, which was recorded in the five municipalities of the state for more than six months and in different scenarios.
