Finland’s Ambassador talks with Baja’s Governor regarding State Opportunities

MEXICALI.- State Governor, Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid, held a work meeting with Finland's Ambassador, Anne Lammila, with the purpose of getting to know the state's strengths and opportunities regarding investments in strategic sectors, as well as outlining a cooperating agenda for short and long term plans.

During this meeting, Vega pointed out the strategic location of the state, its high competitiveness for which its characterized for, its infrastructure for productive activities as well as the development the state has reached regarding the airspace, automotive, medic, metal mechanic, food and beverage sectors, which promote renewable energy, medical tourism and mining in order to take advantage of resources and market demands.

The State Governor talked about the progress that has been made in order to promote competitiveness conditions for industries by lowering every costs, a subject on which he presented new schemes for self-sufficiency and energy source diversification through the use of wind power and solar projects.

On her behalf, Ambassador Lammila thanked the Governor's attention and expressed her interest in agricultural products commerce, such as asparagus and strawberry which are high quality produce from Baja and are exported to the United Kingdom. Furthermore, she presented Finland's renewable energy capabilities such as solar, tidal and wind power, and organic waste.

She added that the main exportation products from Finland to Mexico, are industrial mineral oils and specialized dairy products.

Lastly, the Finnish Ambassador mentioned her office will provide a list of events regarding the promotion of business between the country and Baja California.
