On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Perrones Soruyin” also known as “Tacos Los Perrones” located at Cjon. Quintana Roo 1511, Zona Urbana Rio Tijuana, 22010. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a Chihuahua arrachera taco priced at $2 dollars ($39 pesos) and a chorizo taco priced at $1.85 dollars ($37 pesos).

Chihuahua Arrachera Taco

This taco has arrachera meat (hanger steak), asadero cheese, onion, cilantro, beans, green charred sauce, guacamole, and is served on a flour tortilla. It was accompanied by a grilled pepper; our chef tried a little bit of it when he was trying the taco, and he noticed it was quite spicy.

The meat has a very soft texture and Danny said that it looked like after it was grilled it was kept in its own juice. The cheese was greasy with a lot of flavor. Since the tortilla was thin, it helped to not overwhelm the other ingredients. The guacamole was pure avocado flesh which is why this taco gets a rating of 9.0.

Price: $2 dollars ($39 pesos)

Chorizo Taco

This taco has chorizo, onion, beans, cilantro, guacamole, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla. Before he tried the taco, Chef Danny tried the chorizo just by itself and said that it had great flavor and a very intense red color.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny confirmed the great flavor of this protein, since it wasn’t greasy and it had a good texture that didn’t break. The avocado flesh gave it a very nice plus; however, the tortilla was dry despite the fact that it was handmade. This could be because the dough wasn’t hydrated or because it had been made a long time ago. Mixing beans and chorizo, according to Chef Danny, “never fails”, which is why this taco gets a rating of 8.4.

Price: $1.85 dollars ($37 pesos)
