The Baja 1000, one of the world’s most legendary off-road races, will make history in 2026 by being held exclusively in Baja California Sur. From November 9 to 15 of that year, Los Cabos will serve as both the start and finish line for the 59th edition, establishing itself as the new home of this iconic event.
The agreement was signed over the weekend by Los Cabos Mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez alongside Score International executives Abelardo Grijalva and Juan Tintos Funcke. For the first time in over five decades, the course will run entirely within Baja California Sur.

A Historic Return to Los Cabos
This decision also marks the long-awaited return of the Baja 1000 to Los Cabos. The last time the race started in the destination was in 2000, while the last finish there was in 2007. Nearly two decades later, Los Cabos is back on the international motorsport map, reaffirming its role as a key destination for world-class events.
Boost for Tourism and the Local Economy
Mayor Agúndez celebrated the agreement as a milestone for the city and Baja California Sur:
“I believe this is a tremendous opportunity to give a boost to Los Cabos, while also benefiting the entire state. We are always looking to strengthen tourism and economic impact.”
An International Off-Road Celebration
The 59th SCORE Baja 1000 will be more than just a race. Over the course of a full week, Los Cabos will host a celebration blending speed, culture, and tradition. Organizers announced that more details on the route and official program will be shared soon at score-international.com
