Mexicali will celebrate the 89th anniversary of “El Asalto a las Tierras” (The Land Seizure), a historic land reform movement, with four days of family-friendly events from January 24 to 27. City officials are inviting residents and visitors to take part in the festivities.
Highlights include carnival rides, traditional dancing horses, and a community dance on Saturday night, offering fun for all ages.
The Municipal Institute of Art and Culture of Mexicali (IMACUM) will feature a children’s activity and cultural zone, as well as a historical pavilion showcasing portraits and artifacts from the early leaders of the movement. Exhibits explain how the land reform campaign, led by General Lázaro Cárdenas, helped shape the region into the productive agricultural valley it is today.
