Jorge Mario Bergoglio has been elected as the new leader of the Catholic Church and who will now become Pope number 266 from a long line of Pope’s that started with San Pedro. 115 cardinals from around the world gathered at the Sistine Chapel, which this result has now come to an end after four sessions of votes, where Jorge Mario Bergoglio won the two-thirds majority needed to be elected as the new Pope.

After the conclave result was announced, the youngest Cardinal of the group called the College of Cardinals and the Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, and also asked the new Pope if he accepted the position and asked him for a new name.



Jorge Mario Bergoglio now Pope Francis, is originally from Argentina and was rumored as a candidate who could take the leadership of the Catholic Church.

After going to the Room of Tears, the new Pope was dressed in the clothes that were tailor made in three different sizes. He then returned to the Sistine Chapel to pray in the company of the cardinals to pray alone, and then went to the balcony of the St. Peter's Basilica to give his first blessing to the city and to the world.
