Gabriel Reyes García wrote and directed the film; in addition to the main characters Movi and Jacinto the landscapes of Sonora and Baja California are also the protagonists of this unforgettable trip.
This short film is full of traditions, ecosystems, quests and introspection; the characters embark upon a challenging yet beautiful voyage.
The film is full of technological innovation, like the HIDRA 180 system an ultrapanoramic format with three times the resolution of conventional film and HD that was invented by Tijuana engineers. Additionally stabilized drone technology was used to capture unique aerial shots and complement the unique esthetics of this visual narrative.
Papalótl is part of the official selection for Cannes 2014: Short Film Corner, which takes place from the 15th to the 25th of May.
Elaborated by iDigital Creative Studio and Sahuaro Films, produced by Rafa J. Gámez, brilliantly acted by Sergio Limón, Marina Ruíz and Carlos Puentes, with an original musical score by Gerardo Calderón, and executive producer Sebastian Miazza Papalótl represents a modern independent film movement in Tijuana that is recently becoming recognized at prestigious international film festivals around the world.
