In spite of their many absences due to national team duties and injury the Galaxy will want to continue their good form and avoid being the inconsistent side that they have been as of late. Galaxy have won three out of their last four games scoring seven goals and only allowing three in those last four games.
Galaxy will once again have to rely on youth to get the team through this match as they will carry several key absences into Colorado. Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez will both be with the United States Men's National Team as they prepare the championship game of the 2013 Gold Cup against Panama. Robbie Kean will miss his second consecutive game due to a hip-flexor injury, an injury that has also left him out of the MLS All-Star game, where club teammate Landon Donovan will take his place. Also in doubt is Robbie Rodgers who also missed last week's 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Ready to take advantage of any opportunity available are the Galaxy's youth players like Jose Villareal, Gyasi Zardes and Hector Jimenez. Both Villareal and Zardes had goals in the 2-1 win over the Whitecaps last weekend and will be looking for as much playing time as possible while the big name players are unavailable.
This game will be a tough test for the Galaxy youngsters to show what they can do, their opponent Colorado Rapids are undefeated in their last five MLS games with three wins and two draws. In those five games the Rapids have managed to score nine goals and allowed five. They'll be looking to surpass the Galaxy in the Western Conference and take a hold of a playoff position.
