In order to preserve the Mexican traditions in this border city, citizens were invited to experiment the festive spirit and to venerate and honor their dead.

Elba Olmedo, who is the public relations coordinator of this popular market, said that the market has been celebrating the Day of the Dead for 63 years, because it is an iconic space in the city that celebrates Mexican traditions and intends for them to live on.

"Since Mercado Hidalgo is also committed to tourism, we welcome people who come from different parts of California, primarily from the south, who are excited to know everything that this traditional celebration entails," Olmedo added.
