“The safety and peace of mind of our students is a top priority. We are focused on strengthening security on all campuses and creating the mechanisms and tools that ensure every student can travel safely from their homes to their classrooms,” the governor said.

UABC President Luis Enrique Palafox underscored the importance of direct communication, noting that the meeting provided a platform for student representatives to share their experiences and identify areas for improvement.

“This session’s goal is for you to express yourselves with openness and confidence, to share your experience as students and the areas for improvement that we must work on in a coordinated manner. In recent days, I have reflected on what we have left to do, but also on what we have achieved jointly,” Palafox said.

He added that, at the start of his administration, the university had no transportation service, but through coordinated efforts with the state government, the system has expanded significantly.

Governor Ávila concluded by reaffirming that her administration is working closely with UABC on a comprehensive plan to improve lighting and campus surroundings. Next steps include a technical meeting between the state’s Institute of Mobility and Urban Development (IMOS) and the Student Council to review transit fares and routes. The government will also explore expanding student transportation coverage through the Violeta Comunder service.
