In a major push to strengthen regional economic development, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration has channeled nearly 385 million pesos into loans, financing, and direct support programs for entrepreneurs and small businesses across all seven municipalities of Baja California.
The initiative, managed through the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation, aims to generate new growth opportunities while adhering to principles of equity, inclusion, and non-discrimination.

“Our goal is for every person with an idea or business to find in the State Government a true ally for growth and reach better development opportunities,” Governor Marina del Pilar stated.
Since the beginning of the administration nearly four years ago, more than a thousand support applications from vulnerable groups have been approved. Between January and August of this year alone, the programs “50 y Más” and “Reactívate y Despega” processed over 180 applications from persons with disabilities and nearly 60 from members of Indigenous communities.

Support has been distributed through a range of programs including: “Emprende Empresarial”, “Emprende Tradicional”, and “Tu Idea Tu Negocio” in Mexicali, Tijuana, and Ensenada, as well as rural and coastal areas in Rosarito, San Felipe, and San Quintín.
The government has also formed strategic alliances with banking institutions and guarantee funds, extending approximately 160 credit supports to local businesses and providing seed capital for equipment and operational costs to over 120 projects.

Through the “Fortalecimiento Normativo” program, businesses receive help with trademark registration and regulatory assistance for trademarks, barcodes, and corporate identity, access to the “Consume la Baja” marketplace on Mercado Libre, and discounted shipping services.
