Governor Marina del Pilar Ensures Teacher Rights in Baja California

Teachers in Baja California now benefit from guaranteed job stability, timely salary disbursements, and improved working conditions.

Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda has implemented a sweeping strategy to secure the rights and well-being of educators across Baja California, marking a significant shift from the historical neglect of this sector.

State authorities have guaranteed job stability and timely wage payments for teachers while working to improve their overall working conditions. The government emphasizes that this commitment recognizes the essential role teachers play in shaping the future of the state’s children and youth.

Since taking office in November 2021, the state government has directed over 76.6 billion pesos toward initiatives benefiting the teaching profession.

“It has not been easy to resolve in these years issues that for a long time were sidestepped. However, with planning, willingness, and dialogue, we have sought solutions, knocked on doors, and taken on the responsibility of addressing what was previously left pending,” the governor said.

As a result, the government has processed 94 extraordinary payroll payments, totaling more than 960 million pesos. In addition, over 1.76 billion pesos have been disbursed in retirement severance payments, honoring commitments to veteran educators.

Extraordinary contributions exceeding 22.99 billion pesos were made to Issstecali to safeguard timely pension payments and prevent payroll delays.

Furthermore, a key initiative has beenthe “Pancita Llena, Corazón Contento” (Full Belly, Happy Heart) program, which has received more than 4 billion pesos to provide school breakfasts for basic-level students, aiming to improve both well-being and academic performance.

Furthermore, a 159-million-peso investment has outfitted 1,668 schools in the municipalities of Mexicali and San Felipe with 5,840 new air conditioning units. This effort is designed to dignify learning spaces and create more comfortable classroom conditions for daily teaching and learning.
