Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda has announced a significant expansion of the “Transporte Violeta” (Violet Transport) in Playas de Rosarito. The initiative, executed through the Institute for Sustainable Mobility (IMOS), is set to benefit over 10,000 women and students by improving connectivity, minimizing necessary transfers, and significantly reducing daily commute times for residents.
“With these actions, we are transforming mobility in Rosarito. We are providing dignified, safe, and accessible transportation so that women and students can travel appropriately to their jobs, schools, and homes,” Governor Marina del Pilar stated.
A key benefit of the expansion is the reduction in daily travel costs for beneficiaries commuting to Rosarito’s Downtown Zone and, in some cases, as far as the municipality of Tijuana.

The newly extended route now traverses major roads including Sharp Boulevard, General Juan Vicario Street, and Costa Alegre. This expansion connects a wider range of neighborhoods, such as Plan Libertador, Cumbres del Mar, Villa Bonita, Colinas del Sol, San Miguel, and Real de Rosarito, with service extending to the Real de Rosarito II park.
Spanning over 20 kilometers, the complete Violeta Route begins on Defensores de Baja California street in the Rosamar neighborhood and concludes at the intersection of Boulevard 2000 and the Transpeninsular Highway near Popotla.

Jorge Alberto Gutiérrez Topete, General Director of IMOS, emphasized that the expansion also improves access to critical public services like the Government Center, City Hall, and the General Hospital. He noted that this project is part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable mobility across the state, which includes expanding routes in Ensenada, creating new university routes in Tijuana, and implementing the Cimabús school service.
Gutiérrez Topete reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to continue pushing for inclusive mobility policies that enhance the well-being of residents across all seven municipalities of Baja California.
