Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda highlighted significant advancements in healthcare and infrastructure during a recent visit to Ensenada, crediting state and federal collaboration for the progress. As part of her fourth State of the State address, the governor pointed to the newly constructed IMSS hospital as a transformative achievement.

“We donated the land to make this hospital possible, supporting the efforts of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. Good for Ensenada and good for the President, as well as former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who set the example and started this great project,” the governor said.

The new hospital has propelled Ensenada to a unique national status. The municipality now boasts 1.2 hospital beds per thousand residents, a figure that far surpasses the national average of 0.7 beds per thousand.

Beyond infrastructure, the governor also announced that Baja California now leads the country in the supply of oncology medications, providing critical support to cancer patients and their families across the state.

Furthermore, significant funding was allocated to maintain all of Ensenada’s water treatment plants, ensuring residents have consistent access to clean water. The governor emphasized that it has received more funding for this purpose than any other municipality in the state.

“We are a government of results. Our unprecedented investment of 23 billion pesos in infrastructure including the El Sauzal Node, El Gallo bridge, and the Maneadero highway proves that when public funds are managed honestly, we can achieve much more,” the governor said.

Governor Marina del Pilar also visited the Lomas El Campanario neighborhood to inaugurate 114 new duplex homes. Each two-story unit features a living room, dining room, bathroom, two bedrooms, a closet, a utility patio, and parking.

The new community is fully serviced with potable water, drainage, electricity, public lighting, and paved streets, and includes amenities like green areas, a health center, schools, shops, services, transportation, and security.

This delivery is part of the State Housing Plan, which uses state-owned land to create affordable housing. The ambitious program aims to build 100,000 homes across Baja California, with over 90,000 already completed in the last four years.

“The fact that people can now purchase their home means that we have delivered more than 30,000 houses in these last four years. Numbers are easy to say, but these are families who are now certain they now have an asset and that no one will ever increase their rent or evict them overnight,” she concluded.
