Governor Marina del Pilar framed the electric bus as a critical component of a broader strategy to modernize the region’s transit infrastructure. She argued that an efficient mobility system has a direct, tangible impact by slashing daily commute times and freeing up hours for family, recreation, and community life.

Strengthening public transportation is a priority for the state government because it offers citizens a real, attractive alternative to private vehicles, according to the governor while highlighting their commitment to providing a quality service with better routes, logistics, and roads.

Electric Bus Features

A new electric bus, hailed for its significant energy savings and zero tailpipe emissions, promises to cut energy costs by approximately 70% compared to traditional models.

The 25-passenger bus features state-of-the-art technology, including a high-efficiency lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a theoretical range of 200 kilometers. Paired with automatic transmission, its design is intended to provide a modern and reliable transit service.

Jorge Alberto Gutiérrez Topete, Director of the Institute of Sustainable Mobility (IMOS), explained that this vehicle will serve as the cornerstone of the new “Orizaba Ecoroute.” The initial route will connect the Maternal Hospital to Cecyte Misiones in Mexicali, with plans to integrate additional electric units into the fleet in the near future.
