Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila inaugurated the first phase of the Rincones de Puebla secondary school, a key step in the state’s effort to bring quality education to historically underserved communities. The school is part of the broader Corazones (Hearts) strategy, aimed at creating more equitable opportunities through education.

“For the benefit of our children and youth, we’ve worked to create dignified, quality learning spaces; the kind they truly deserve. Our goal is to keep building more secondary schools, high schools, and universities, so young people can continue their studies and pursue their dreams,” the governor said.

The new facility will initially serve more than 140 students in a neighborhood long in need of better infrastructure. The first phase includes a two-story academic building with four classrooms, a library, a cafeteria, administrative offices, restrooms, and a perimeter fence for security.

The governor stressed that the school reflects a broader commitment to education in Baja California, which also includes student support programs like Corazón de Cimarrón and federal scholarships such as the Rita Cetina Universal Scholarship.

Students like Ashley González Pitt said the school’s opening shows that young people in the region are valued and that safe, dignified spaces for learning are finally being created.

Principal René Morales Ramírez called the new school “a response to a critical social need” and said it demonstrates the government’s commitment to accessible, inclusive, high-quality education.
