Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda launched the 2025 National Public Health Week in Baja California on Monday, inaugurating a series of health projects, workshops, and prevention campaigns that will sweep across all municipalities this week.
The statewide effort is part of a broader national strategy championed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, designed to make preventive care, timely disease detection, and healthy living resources more accessible to all citizens.
The initiative will deploy mobile health brigades to parks, schools, workplaces, and rural communities, with a special focus on protecting vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and migrant populations.

“Prevention and health promotion are the greatest legacy we can leave for future generations. Here in Baja California, we have made health a right, not a privilege. This week is our opportunity to bring these essential services directly to our people,” Governor Marina del Pilar said.
The National Public Health Week is a joint effort across all 32 Mexican entities, aiming to reach an estimated 20 million residents. In Baja California, the campaign is a collaboration between local, state, and federal health institutions.

Jesús Castillo Díaz, part of the National Council for Accident Prevention, highlighted the National Health Week as a crucial call to build a culture of prevention and collective care.
State Secretary of Health Adrián Medina Amarillas noted, “No government initiative improves public health by decree. It is only through the joint participation of authorities and citizens that we can truly face these challenges. Preventing disease and fostering self-care is the most effective path forward to ensure family well-being.”

Governor Marina del Pilar concluded with a call to action for all Baja Californians, urging them to take advantage of the available services, underscoring that preventive check-ups, workshops, and early detections can save lives.
