Governor Marina del Pilar Presents Comprehensive Security and Tourism Plan for La Rumorosa

Governor Ávila Olmeda stated that the plan will help revitalize tourism, stimulate local businesses, and boost the town's economy.

Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda has announced the launch of a Comprehensive Security and Development Plan for La Rumorosa, aimed at bringing peace, vitality, and prosperity to the region. The initiative also seeks to boost tourism in this iconic area.

“La Rumorosa belongs to the people of Baja California and its residents—that’s why we’re here, with our hearts fully invested,” the governor stated. “We must continue to promote this beautiful part of the state, a place where many of us have created lasting memories.”

Governor Ávila Olmeda emphasized that several state government agencies are collaborating to implement the plan, working together to revitalize tourism, commerce, and the local economy ahead of the upcoming vacation season.

As part of the effort, the state’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, reported that 12 security operations have already been conducted in La Rumorosa and the nearby town of El Hongo since March 16. These actions have led to 10 arrests for federal crimes, 9 for state-level offenses, 3 based on national warrants, and 1 under an international warrant.

Authorities also seized 8 firearms, 218 rounds of ammunition, 11 magazines, 2 ballistic vests, nearly 5 kilograms of marijuana, and 15 vehicles. Additionally, the State Attorney General’s Office executed 12 search warrants, while the Federal Attorney General’s Office carried out two.

During the conference, a vacation activities plan for La Rumorosa was also announced to further strengthen infrastructure, tourism offerings, and community engagement and its schedule runs from July 2 to September 26, featuring camps, cultural festivals, workshops, and tours.

Highlights include six guided trips in August and September from Mexicali to La Rumorosa, visiting swimming pools and a museum dedicated to the Kumiai, Paipai, and Cucapá indigenous communities. These activities are part of the “Traveling Hearts” program, benefiting students, families, and individuals supported by DIF Baja California.

Baja California’s Secretary of Tourism Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez announced 6 educational activities on Tourism Culture for children, aimed at teaching them about the state’s history and attractions, fostering early appreciation for their environment and community.

Lastly, he invited local and visiting tourists to make La Rumorosa their next vacation destination, where they can explore iconic sites like La Casa de Piedra, the El Vallecito archaeological site, or simply enjoying the scenic viewpoints.
