Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda led the distribution of 4,500 bank cards under the “Ilumina Tu Día” (Light Up Your Day) and “Con Corazón para el Agua” (With Heart for Water) programs, aimed at subsidizing payments for basic utility services. This initiative reflects her firm commitment to supporting those most in need in Mexicali.

The governor explained that the “Con Corazón para el Agua” card helps families cover their water bills, while “Ilumina Tu Día” is intended for domestic electricity payments—a particularly vital aid in places like Mexicali and San Felipe, where extreme heat leads to heavy use of cooling appliances, driving up utility costs.

“We want these programs to directly reach those who need them most—low-income families—to strengthen their finances and improve their quality of life. These benefits come with clear rules and transparent access,” Governor Marina del Pilar stated.

She also highlighted the implementation of the “Sol del Norte” (Northern Sun) program, a nationwide initiative led by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, which involves installing solar panels in homes. In Mexicali, 5,000 families will benefit, with the state government providing free maintenance and operation.

Governor Marina del Pilar invited residents to attend Bienestar Campaign events, where they can learn about the requirements, registration processes, and program guidelines to access these benefits.

“We will not miss a single day of working for the people of Baja California, especially those most in need, because my love for you knows no borders. We want families to have a dignified life, knowing that this government cares about their needs,” she underscored.

Meanwhile, Baja California’s Secretary of Social Well-Being, Netzahualcóyotl Jáuregui Santillán, noted that “Ilumina Tu Día” beneficiaries receive an annual support of 1,500 pesos, while “Con Corazón para el Agua” provides 1,000 pesos, specifically for Mexicali residents.

He reminded those who registered last March to stay alert for notifications to collect their cards, which are valid only for 2025. Those still holding cards from previous years must complete the necessary renewal process.

He added that Governor Marina del Pilar is promoting 21 programs to assist families in the state, such as Tarjeta Violeta for single mothers and Proyectos Productivos, which will soon open registration to provide up to 25,000 pesos in support for aspiring entrepreneurs.
