Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda led a “Corazones” program campaign event in the Altiplano and Planicie neighborhoods of Tijuana. Prioritizing her commitment to reducing extreme poverty in Baja California and promoting social justice, the governor engaged directly with residents to listen to their needs.

“We are transforming areas of the state that were neglected for years and are now part of our ‘Corazones: Transformation You Can See, a Future You Can Feel’ program. What we want is to change lives and bring well-being to the thousands of Baja Californian families who were forgotten for so long and are now a priority for our government,” she emphasized.

As part of this day’s campaign activities, public spaces in Altiplano were revitalized with the support of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, including the cleanup of a lot and the removal of graffiti from walls.

The governor stressed that these areas are being restored to transform them into parks, outdoor gyms, or walkways for community use and enjoyment.

In the same neighborhood, seven streets that had been dirt roads for over 20 years now have hydraulic concrete pavement, Governor Marina del Pilar announced. These projects, carried out in coordination with the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territorial Planning (SIDURT), cover 7,712 square meters, benefiting more than 27,000 residents with an investment of 14 million pesos.

“I’m very pleased. Exactly two months ago, we were here to launch several projects in these neighborhoods, including Altiplano, which has historically lacked public services and pavement. It’s great to see the progress and important work being done,” she said.

Additionally, in coordination with the Urban Development Board, paving work was inspected in the Planicie neighborhood, covering more than 6,268 square meters with an investment of 8,902,750 pesos, benefiting 1,197 residents.

In collaboration with the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation, Governor Marina del Pilar distributed funds from the “50 y más” (50 and Over) and “Reactívate y Despega” (Reactivate and Take Off) programs, aimed at supporting women and men in developing their business ventures. In Tijuana, five entrepreneurs received direct support from the governor to boost their initiatives.
