Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda led a “Corazones” strategy event, bringing essential services, recreational spaces, and legal support to families in San Quintín as part of a broader effort to improve quality of life in underserved areas.

During her visit, the governor announced the upcoming construction of a Comprehensive Well-Being Center in the town of Camalú. The new center will offer a range of services including pensions for older adults, assistance for individuals in vulnerable situations, and workshops and training for beneficiaries of the Violet Card program, among other key social initiatives.

Governor Ávila Olmeda emphasized that this effort reflects her administration’s commitment to the principle that “well-being should reach everyone,” regardless of where they live.

“In San Quintín, we have been addressing all these issues. Resolving your needs is what drives us. For so many years, nothing was done, and now we are making efforts to achieve the goals we have set,” she stated.

Additionally, she oversaw progress on the rehabilitation of the public park in the Lomas de San Ramón neighborhood, which includes restoring the kiosk, building a sports court, a perimeter sidewalk, and a playground with a total investment exceeding 2.8 million pesos. In the same space, in coordination with the state’s Department of Culture, books were distributed free of charge to children to promote reading among kids.

Regarding this project, community representative Justino Herrera Martínez mentioned that the founding of this space and its rehabilitation involved active participation from local residents through assemblies. Thus, the current state administration responded to the request to invest in these improvements after the area was affected by adverse weather conditions in previous years.

“We are very happy that the governor has come, as we open our arms to noble people who come to support our community. It’s not just about meeting the governor but also listening to her and keeping track of the commitments made so they can be followed up on,” he said.

Furthermore, as property titles were given in the Padre Kino I neighborhood, the governor spoke with the benefited families. By receiving this documentation, they gain greater legal certainty regarding their homes and assets, both for themselves and their families.

Clara Martínez Velazco, who after 14 years of living in her current home finally received her property title, confirmed that the process was efficient and that she received attentive service from staff at Baja California’s Institute for Real Estate and Housing Development (INDIVI).

“Now my land is secure. If I leave the city and return, no one can take my property from me because this document proves it’s mine. I thank the governor for making these procedures quick and giving us her support,” she concluded.
