During her tour, the state governor highlighted the permanent collaboration with the “Mexicali Gran Visión” association through the several state agencies involved in the park’s development in each of its several stages, as well as the protection of the ecosystem of the lagoon system in the city.
As such, she stated that the project’s first stage will be delivered next July so that families can enjoy its facilities, while the second stage will be completed in November, including a series of relevant attractions inside the park.
For his part, the coordinator of Regeneration Programs in Public Spaces of Baja California, Carlos Torres Torres, stated that the lagoon system circuit is together equal to an area three times bigger than Bosque de la Ciudad, which is why this is a high impact project that is looking to transform the ecosystem.
It should be noted that the park will include playgrounds, palapas, walkers, restrooms, and a series of attractions that will liven up and increase the functionality of the project in order to improve the experience of all citizens that attend. At the same time, it will strengthen the sense of community towards environmental protection.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign, Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, stated that at the end of 2023, it is expected that around 120 million pesos will be invested in this project. This money will be allocated to construction and restoration work.
At this tour, the following people were present: Mayor of the 24th Municipal Administration of Mexicali, Norma Alicia Bustamante Martínez; the Secretary of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Mónica Vega Aguirre; the Secretary of Culture of Baja California, Alma Delia Ábrego Ceballos; and Juan Ignacio Guajardo, president of Mexicali Gran Visión.
