Halloween festivities are taking to the rails this October as the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum brings back its popular Pumpkin Express. Offering a unique seasonal outing, the event combines historic train cars, festive costumes, and scenic autumnal views across rural San Diego County.
The celebrations will take place at the museum’s facility, located at 750 Depot Street in Campo. Passengers will board vintage train cars decorated for the season as they travel along the historic San Diego and Arizona Railway route.

Pumpkin Express: Dates and Admission
The Pumpkin Express will run across three dates: Saturday, October 24; Sunday, October 25; and Saturday, October 31. The family-friendly event is open to riders of all ages, and guests are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.
Ticket prices range from $18.95 to $50, depending on the class of service. Passengers can choose between two seating options:
Classic Coach: Riders travel in restored 1920s passenger cars. As the most budget-friendly option, Classic Coach offers the highest seating capacity on the train.
First Class: Hosted inside the historic Santa Fe Lounge Car #1509, this premium option features lounge- and dining-style seating, an attendant serving complimentary snacks, and access to an open-air observation platform.
