San Diego’s largest Halloween celebration is back! HauntFest, the county’s massive street party that draws thousands of costumed attendees, will once again take over downtown El Cajon on Friday, October 17, promising an evening of free, spooky fun for the entire family.
Building on the tremendous success of last year’s event, which attracted over 20,000 attendees, HauntFest 2025 is set to deliver an even bigger lineup of attractions. The festivities run from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The event offers a full slate of Halloween activities for all ages. Highlights include a costume contest with cash prizes, amusement rides, an enchanted maze, an interactive reptile zoo, a candy trail, and a classic car “trunk-or-treat”.
Entertainment options abound, from live performances to an outdoor screening of Monsters University. Younger children can enjoy professional face painting, airbrush tattoos, and a dedicated sensory tent offering a calm retreat from the excitement.
A major highlight this year is the return of the 3rd Annual Haunted Circus: “Monsters at Play,” presented by The Magnolia Theatre. Produced by Twisted Orbit Circus Entertainment and sponsored by Waste Management, this family-friendly show features a dazzling cast of jugglers, contortionists, acrobats, and stilt-walkers. The free performances are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with the theater doors opening 30 minutes prior to each show.
