In February, Baja California Governor Francisco Vega de Lamadrid announced that 917,690,936 pesos (or about $69.10 million USD ) will be allocated this year to security and justice in the state, an important accomplishment made possible by constant efforts from several federal government.

He pointed out that Baja California's Public Security Strengthening Program will be developed through an eight axis guiding scheme for reducing crime in the state, to "just" 6,000 per year during 2014.
The state executive pointed out that these resources were the contribution from state and municipal powers, these were made possible through the Public Security Contribution Fund, these will be distributed in various impact areas around the state.
Of the 917,690,96.78 pesos for Baja California's Public Safety Strengthening Program, 768,639,958.28 pesos ($57,790,700 USD) correspond to federal investment, while 149,050,978.50 pesos ($11,206,500 USD) are state and municipal contributions.
Vega de Lamadrid explained that federal public resources will be invested into eight comprehensive actions related to social crime prevention; these are violence and crime prevention and police control; police integrity; training and professionalization; citizen attention services; technological platform and information systems; rehabilitation and social reintegration, and law enforcement.
