Tijuana is experiencing a noticeable rise in temperatures, with sunny skies and strong sun dominating much of the city.

According to Meteored, the hottest days this week will be Thursday, August 21, Friday, August 22, and Saturday, August 23. Temperatures are forecast to reach 30°C (86°F) on Thursday, climb to 31°C (88°F) on Friday, and slightly drop to 30°C (86°F) on Saturday.

Some areas could even reach 33°C (91°F) after midday on Friday. The UV index will be high, ranging from 7 to 10, so sunscreen with SPF 50 is recommended. Winds of 8–29 km/h (5-18 mph) may help ease the heat slightly.

Given the high temperatures and forecasts for the coming days, authorities are urging residents to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related issues. At the start of summer, Tijuana’s Civil Protection Department shared the following recommendations:

  • Avoid direct sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Do not leave pets or people inside cars.
  • Use sunscreen at all times.
  • Wear light clothing and light colors.
