BOCA DEL RIO, Veracruz – There is no supreme "queen" of Mexican boxing, at least not yet.

Saturday night's nationally televised WBC boxing match between Tijuana's Jackie Nava and Ana María Torres had been billed the "war of the queens."

After 10 hard-fought rounds, the fight ended in a tie, though fans afterward chanted over and over again, "Jackie!," Jackie!," "Jackie."

The women fought very evenly in the first round, while Torres dominated the fifth, when she appeared on the verge of felling her opponent. But Nava rallied and the fight ended in spectacular fashion.

The three judges gave them identical scores of 95-95.

Nava, 30, holds the WBC's junior featherweight title (122 pounds); while Torres, 31, from Mexico City, holds the super flyweight title (115 pounds).

Given the interest the women's fight sparked across Mexico, another duel to crown the "queen" of Mexican boxing seems in the cards.
