UPDATE: In response to the threats to the group who is organizing the event, it's has change to a pacific reunion at the Mexico Monument "The scissors" at 3:00 PM on Saturday May 19.
TIJUANA.- After an attack campaign aimed directly at Enrique Peña Nieto, and a nationwide call-out for a march against him, the city of Tijuana is thinking different, and they're turning things around by promoting an informed vote.
The city of Tijuana has a date this coming Saturday May 19 at 1:00PM at City Hall (public square); there is where the march will start on route to the Mexico Monument better known as "The Scissors".
The group "Tijuana Informed Vote March" specifies that:
"1. We are informing that the organizers DO NOT belong to any political party or organization with proselytic interests. We are citizens just like you, tired of the media manipulation and the lies that the official mass media broadcast.
2. We are a group of nonpartisan citizens, even though each of us have our own electoral preference, we do not look to impose who the people have to vote for, we want people to be informed before they submit their votes.
3. We have a need to prevent our event from turning into a proselytic act, hence, we are asking people attending the march to NOT BRING POLITICAL PROPAGANDA OF ANY KIND.
4. We reaffirm the proposal of this march as a CITIZEN INITIATIVE; from the beginning, this event was called-out by citizens and for citizens.
5. The main reason of this march is to INFORM, to talk to people, to show what the options are and let people DECIDE BY THEMSELVES. An informed vote is a conscious, responsible vote.
We believe that a new Mexico is possible; we deserve better life conditions for all. We will work to build a better country, and with our joined effort we will succeed.
The color and type of clothing can be casual, avoiding a color to prevail among the others since red, yellow, white, and blue are partisan colors, so we have to avoid any of these colors".
Under the slogan of "History is not made by political parties, it is made by citizens", they hope that the outcome of this movement will be the election of the candidate in the best conditions to develop Mexico.
