Baja California’s Department of Tourism has urged local tourism service providers to join the current reporting awareness campaign, an initiative aimed at fostering a culture of accountability to safeguard the rights of both residents and visitors.

Before hiring any service, users can check the commercial complaint box set up by the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (PROFECO). Additionally, mediation mechanisms to facilitate dialogue between consumers and tourism service providers to address and resolve potential disputes have been established.

If you experience an unfavorable situation with a public official or tourism service provider—whether during your visit to Baja California or at any point while using their services—both residents and visitors may file a tourist complaint via email.

When submitting a report, be sure to include:

  • The name of the official or agency involved
  • Badge number, ID card, or patrol number
  • Location, date, and time of the incident

For immediate assistance, the following contact numbers are available: 911 for emergencies; 089 for anonymous reports; 078 for roadside assistance from Ángeles Verdes; and (664) 624-2020, ext. 6411 for direct guidance from Baja California’s Department of Tourism.

The Baja California State Anonymous Reporting Center also accepts confidential reports of corruption. Whether a public official demands money or behaves improperly, you can report it safely by calling 089 or using the 089MóvilBC mobile app. The hotline and app are available 24/7 and do not record any personal data. Your report is confidentially forwarded to the relevant authorities for investigation.

Visitors can also use the State Attorney General’s Office online reporting portal, available here.
