The Emergency Button app, developed by the city’s Department of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPCM), is a free, user-friendly mobile app that allows Tijuana residents to quickly request help from the Municipal Police in risky situations.

How the App Works

Using the Emergency Button is straightforward and takes only a few steps:

  1. Download the app: Available for free on Android and iOS devices.
  2. Create an account: Register with your personal information and phone number.
  3. Activate in an emergency: Press the button in the app to send an alert with your real-time location to the Command and Control Center.
  4. Receive immediate assistance: An operator will contact you right away to verify the situation and gather additional information.
  5. Police response: Municipal Police officers are dispatched to your location, and an official record of the incident is created in the 911 system for follow-up.

If the button is pressed by mistake, it is essential to answer the operator’s call to confirm that there is no emergency and avoid unnecessary police deployment.

When to Use the Emergency Button

The app is designed for situations such as:

  • Robbery
  • Traffic accidents with injuries
  • Fires or serious medical emergencies
  • Suspicious individuals attempting to enter a property
  • Disturbances or violent acts

By using the Emergency Button, you establish direct, immediate communication with the police while sharing your precise location, enabling faster response times.

Over 40,600 residents currently have the Emergency Button on their phones, helping authorities respond to hundreds of emergencies. During Mayor Ismael Burgueño’s administration alone, 9,510 citizens downloaded the app, leading to 539 emergency cases being successfully addressed.
