Swedish furniture giant IKEA is bringing a plan and order point to South San Diego County this spring, part of its broader growth strategy to make its products more accessible across the United States.
Unlike a traditional warehouse store, this is a smaller space designed for planning and purchasing, allowing customers to consult with IKEA staff to design and order furniture for living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.

The IKEA South Bay location will open at the Southland Plaza Shopping Center (585 Saturn Blvd., Suite A) and will benefit local residents in Imperial Beach, Otay Mesa, and Chula Vista. Customers can place their orders online in advance and schedule a time for pickup at the South Bay location, eliminating the need to drive to the larger IKEA store in Mission Valley.
“IKEA South Bay brings our signature design solutions to the Imperial Beach, Otay Mesa, Chula Vista and the southern San Diego County community—making it more accessible, more convenient, and of course, more affordable,” said Laura Mellor, the market manager for IKEA San Diego.

The new order point will focus solely on sales and design consultation. Shoppers looking to enjoy IKEA’s food offerings will still need to visit the Mission Valley location.
