Ismael Burgueño has rejected all speculation linking him to specific groups in the party, insisting that the interim leadership process must be conducted with respect, unity, and without resorting to disqualifying tactics.
Addressing social media posts that sought to associate him with former official Carlos Torres, he dismissed them as deliberate attempts to mislead the public and sow discord within the movement.
“I have seen numerous videos on social media trying to connect me with Carlos Torres,” he said. “I am not part of his group. These are distortions aimed at creating division and painting me as aligned with a particular political line.”
Burgueño further argued that internal labels and factional divides run counter to the core principles of the movement. He called on party members to remain focused on the broader objectives of Morena and the Fourth Transformation project, setting aside personal or group loyalties.
“This movement was born out of a popular demand,” he stressed. “We must move beyond labels and close ranks in defense of Morenism.”
He also warned that online smear campaigns serve no constructive purpose, harming individual contenders and the party as a whole.
“As Morenistas, we have a moral duty to protect the interests of the Fourth Transformation, and that calls for unity. Factionalism leads nowhere. We should pool our efforts to preserve the identity and strength of Morenism,” he said.
Reaffirming his stance, Burgueño underscored that Morena’s political influence is rooted in its national organization and its ability to operate in a coordinated manner across regional and local levels.
“At the end of the day, we are all Morenistas. If national leadership decides on a coalition, we abide by that decision. Teamwork at the national level must be reflected in every state and municipality. The message is clear: we need to work together,” he stated.
He urged members not to lose sight of the fact that Morena remains the primary vessel of political power, and that unity will be the decisive factor in advancing the transformation agenda in Baja California.
