This morning, Pope Francis announced that on April 27th 2014 John Paul II and John XXIII will be proclaimed saints, this will be done after a canonization act that will be held at the Vatican. The announcement took place in the Consistory Hall of the Apostolic Palace, during the celebration of the Third Hour, in the Ordinary Public Consistory for canonization of these pontiffs.

With this, John Paul II will make history by becoming a saint with one of the shortest time periods for his canonization. To be proclaimed a Saint, it must be proven that you have performed a miracle, which in his case corresponds to the inexplicable healing of 50 year old Floribeth Mora Diaz's aneurism.

Pope Juan XXIII (1881-1963) on the other hand did not need this type of divine intervention because Pope Francis decided to declare him a saint without the need of to meed this requirement.

John Paul II was born in 1920 and passed away on 2005, he was originally from Poland and answered to the secular name of Karol Jozef Wojtyla. After 27 years of serving as a leader of the catholic church, he became one of the most beloved Popes in history, especially when it comes to Mexico, which was one of the places he visited the most.
