TIJUANA.- The area where a refugee neighborhood, Little Haiti, is being built is in a canyon and does not have the necessary public infrastructure to build homes, as it was announced this morning by the director of Civil Protection, who told to Uniradio Informa, Little Haiti is located in a high risk zone.
Jose Rito Portugal, points out that after reviewing an Atlas of Risk, recently published by the federal government for the City of Tijuana, he found this area to be too much of a risk for building low-income housing of this type, unless work begins quickly on building rain canals, proper drainage installation and use of material suitable for this area.
For now, a yellow label was already placed in the church and it was recommended to the Secretary of Urban Development and Ecology not to grant anymore permits to live in this place.
