Local entrepreneurs in Playas de Rosarito are getting a lift thanks to the “Active Rosarito” program, which recently handed out grants and training to 42 business owners. The initiative aims to help small businesses grow, go formal, and support long-term economic development in the community.
Led by Mayor Rocío Adame, the city partnered with Baja California’s Department of Economy and Innovation to provide both cash and in-kind support. Each entrepreneur received 10,000 pesos to launch, expand, or improve their business operations.

Participants also took part in a workshop called Emprende con Valores (Entrepreneurship with Values), where state officials offered practical tips on running a responsible, sustainable business.
Irán Leonardo Verdugo, Rosarito’s Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism, said the program reflects Mayor Adame’s commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs and making sure resources have a real impact. It also encourages small businesses to formalize and strengthens the local economy.

“Active Rosarito” is part of a broader effort to promote inclusive growth and improve quality of life for residents. Officials say the program hopes to reach up to 400 entrepreneurs by the end of the year, with continued support from the state government.

Officials said they will keep working across departments to help small businesses thrive and improve life for families in Rosarito.
