Get ready, Tijuana! This year’s Independence Day festivities will be filled with rhythm and joy as Margarita “The Cumbia Goddess” takes the stage. The grand celebration will be held on Monday, September 15, at Glorieta Miguel Hidalgo in front of the Municipal Palace, and admission is completely free.

Organized by the Government of Tijuana, under Mayor Ismael Burgueño, the festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. with performances by local artists, leading up to the much-anticipated appearance of the former Sonora Dinamita vocalist.

With more than 40 years of career, Margarita Vargas Gaviria has become one of Latin music’s most beloved voices. Known for hits like Amor de mis Amores and Que Bello, she will deliver a show that spans her wide repertoire. The audience can look forward to dancing to cumbia classics such as Mi Bombón, Tequila, and Escándalo, as well as enjoying songs from her latest album La Reina de la Cumbia.

From her early days as lead singer of La Sonora Dinamita, where she recorded iconic tracks like Se me perdió la cadenita, to her successful solo career, Margarita has left an indelible mark on Latin music.
