Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana witnessed the formalization of a strategic alliance in Mexico City between Mexicana de Aviación and Correos de México through the signing of a collaboration agreement for the shipment of packages and mail.

The mayor thanked the General Director of Correos de México, Violeta Abreu González, and the Director of Mexicana de Aviación, Leonardo Ávila Bojórquez, for choosing Tijuana as the launch point of this major alliance, with flights between this border city and the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA). This reinforces the city’s long-standing dynamism and importance as a strategic logistics hub in the country.

As a result of this alliance and the opening of the Tijuana-AIFA route, airmail and parcel services will be revitalized, reducing delivery times by more than 50% between these destinations.

Baja California accounts for 3.9% of Mexico’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and with mail air transport and correspondence between Tijuana and AIFA, the state has become the first to benefit from this partnership.

During the event, Correos de México General Director, Violeta Abreu González, stated that this agreement supports the objectives of the Mexico Plan:

“It is a strategy led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to strengthen regional development, increase local supply chains, and add value, thereby consolidating well-being hubs.”

She added that Baja California, with its seven municipalities—Tijuana, Ensenada, Mexicali, Playas de Rosarito, Tecate, San Felipe, and San Quintín—will serve as a strategic gateway to integrate the country from the northern border, becoming the starting point of a logistics network with social and economic vision.
