Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana welcomed Alma Xóchitl Herrera Márquez, head of Rosario Castellanos National University (UNRC), and her team to discuss the institution’s progress in Tijuana.
The mayor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating the necessary conditions for UNRC to begin classes in Tijuana this September, with support from President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who selected the city as one of the university’s first physical campuses nationwide.

“Whatever you need, we’ll make it happen immediately. You can count on the Tijuana City Hall, as this university is crucial and much needed for our students,” Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana said.
He also emphasized his administration’s dedication to establishing collaboration agreements with UNRC’s educational authorities in order to foster students’ professional development.

Herrera Márquez reported that 1,400 Tijuana students are already enrolled in virtual programs at the university, and another 1,900 have signed up for in-person classes starting in September—bringing the total to 3,300.
This meeting was also attended by Government Secretary Arnulfo Guerrero León; Cabinet Coordinator Leticia Vidrio Moreno; the representative of Baja California’s General Government Secretariat, Oliver Herrero; UNRC Tijuana Administrator Daniel Lomelí; UNRC National Secretary Antonio Méndez; and University National Legal Officer Javier Ceja.
