As part of her commitment to youth development and well-being, Mexicali Mayor Norma Bustamante awarded financial assistance to 240 high school and college students through the Municipal Youth Institute (IMJUM).
“These scholarships are more than just financial aid, they’re a way of saying ‘we believe in you,’ in your talent, your effort, and all that you can achieve,” said the mayor.

Bustamante also highlighted key actions carried out during her first year leading the local government, including:
- Three rounds of economic support for 400 students in total — 200 in high school and 200 in college — to help them stay in school.
- A comprehensive employment strategy that helped 1,200 young people join the workforce.
- The Integral Training Program, which promoted emotional well-being and empowerment for more than 11,500 youths through nearly 190 workshops and talks.
- Leadership, rights, and social skills workshops that brought together almost 3,000 participants.
Meanwhile, IMJUM Director Laritza Nieto explained that a total of 240 scholarships were awarded: high school students each received about $85 USD, while college students received $130 USD each.
