Mexicali has launched its signature cultural event this week as Mayor Norma Bustamante inaugurated the 49th edition of the “Fiestas del Sol” at the Fair, Event, and Exposition Center (FEX). The festival will run from September 26th through October 12th, transforming the venue into a vibrant hub of music, cultural exhibits, and family entertainment.

“Fiestas del Sol represent more than just a celebration, they’re where we reconnect with our identity, honor our roots, and envision the future we want to build together as a community,” Mayor Bustamante said.

This year’s event features several notable enhancements, including a redesigned City Hall exhibition space that showcases the rich history of Baja California’s capital.

According to FEX Director Ismael Castro, attendees can experience both traditional favorites and new attractions across multiple themed pavilions: Asphalt City, Carne y Fuego, Chinesca, and Hacienda del Norte.

He also highlighted the new Foro Templo Mayor, which will serve as the official pre- and post-event venue for Palenque concertgoers.

The entertainment lineup began strongly on September 26 with legendary group Bronco performing at the Isla de las Estrellas stage and regional Mexican star Luis R. Conriquez headlining the Palenque on opening night.

General admission tickets are $60 pesos ($3 USD). Free entry is granted to children under 12, people with disabilities, birthday celebrants, and senior citizens. Tickets are available at FEX ticket booths and through taquillaFEX.com.
