Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali presided over the closing ceremony of the “Book and Ball Summer Program”, a completely free initiative held from July 7 to 18 at the Polideportivo facilities that provided children the opportunity to develop new athletic and cultural skills.
The mayor of Mexicali acknowledged the joint efforts of the local institutes of culture and sports (IMACUM and IMDECUF, respectively):
“Once again, we’ve shown that by working together, we can achieve great things—like ensuring our children enjoy a healthy and fun summer,” she stated.

Anahí Martínez, IMACUM Director, explained that the program engaged children aged 6 to 12, offering classes in vocal training, musical theater, art-related recreational activities, film club sessions, and storytelling.
Valerio III Camargo, IMDECUF Director, added that participants also enjoyed playing basketball, football, volleyball, and several water games.
